Barbie and Ken's Dream Wedding Brought to Life

Somewhere on the sunny shores of California, after 62 years of on-again-off-again dating, Ken dropped down on one knee and popped the big question. "Barbara Millicent Roberts, will you marry me?" She said yes, and the happy couple immediately started planning their dream wedding and a life of holy Mattel-mony.

Best of all, Barbie hired Prim Paper Co. to design her custom wedding invitations and ceremony signage! I always knew she was bright. She is a doctor/lawyer/astronaut/veterinarian, after all.

After months of preparation, Barbie and Ken's dream wedding came to life on a sunny afternoon right here in Oklahoma City. Earlier this year, I joined forces with the best of the best in weddings to execute this out-of-the-box styled shoot (pun intended), which proved to be an exhilarating challenge creatively.

For Barbie's stationery, I knew I wanted to pay homage to life in plastic (it's fantastic!) in a way that felt playful yet still refined, so I printed her main invitation and details card on colored acrylic. Her suite includes a simplified flower motif and rounded shapes that mirror designs in her dream house. For the color scheme, I chose classic bridal white, pastel pink, turquoise blue, and bold pops of magenta. To seal the deal, I included a pink glitter envelope liner inside her (also pink) envelopes.

Not only was Barbie's dream wedding an incredibly fun challenge for me as a stationer, but spending the day in Barbie's world felt like stepping into a fantasy. And between you and me, I'd be lying if I said I didn't sneak into the Barbie box a time or two... I'm so excited to share this full suite with you just in time for the Barbie movie premiere!
